Papo
was born in Ponce, Puerto Rico.
He spent his childhood years in the town of
Aguas Buenas, PR. He moved
to Queens Village as a teenager where he started fixing cars in the
neighborhood. He worked for several neighborhood repair stations before
opening up his first repair shop with a partner at age 27. With his loyal customers always following him he then
branched out on his own to create Papo’s Auto Clinic in 1992. Starting with just an empty garage building he has
transformed the space into one of the cleanest high tech repair and computer
diagnostic center in Queens Village. Papo
has always had a passion for cars and has even built and raced his hot rod (Papo’s
Toy) at Englishtown, NJ. He has
always been a hard worker and enjoys a good repair challenge.
Papo is always doing something innovative to a car, whether it is installing
lift kits, turbo kits or installing custom roll cages.
Papo was soon discovered by Telemundo and was asked to do some live segments on their morning show with Paula Reyes and Pedro Luis Garcia. His bi-weekly segment was titled "Consejos de Papo". For 2 years he educated the Hispanic community on car tips and showed them how to avoid being ripped off. In addition he did many ad hoc segments to support any current news reports. One such segment was the demonstration on how to install a trunk lock release so that individuals would be able to get out of a locked trunk.
Soon after, Papo received a call from Univision Radio to meet with them. His first thought was that it was to do a story segment for them, instead it was to become the host of the first Hispanic Automotive talk show. El Garaje de Autozone was then launched with Papo as the only mechanic expert on the show. Millions of listeners tuned in each Saturday morning to the live call-in show that was syndicated across 12 markets. Papo Pistón offered his listeners more than just car tips, he was able to listen and troubleshoot individual car problems. In addition he did live presentations for Castrol GTX in Texas and wrote the weekly car tips for Allstate Insurance. His idea to focus more on car issues and to help more callers was clouded by the agenda of the others who constantly ad-libbed about sports and boxing. His requests fell on deaf ears, instead in December 2006, Univision made the decision to replace Papo with "a cheaper mechanic". Since his departure, he has continued to help the Hispanic consumers by doing automotive segments on Temprano en la Mañana con Reyis on 93.1 Amor (an SBS radio station in NY). His loyal listeners from all over the country continue to keep in touch with him.
Continue to look for Papo's next projects....

Our customers feel that our price is fair for the quality and honesty that they
